Newly Weds Foods Buys Industrial Food Coatings Ops

CHICAGONewly Weds Foods, Inc., acquired the industrial food coating business of Tukwila, Wash.-based Continental Mills, Inc., for an undisclosed sum. The transaction includes a 55,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located in Pendleton, Ore., and other assets associated directly with this specific business.

Continental Mills business is primarily comprised of starch- and flour-based coatings and batters for potato and poultry application, as well as other protein and vegetable type substrates.

Commenting on the acquisition, Newly Weds Foods President Charles T.
