NOW Foods Expands Western Facility

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill.NOW Foods western U.S. distribution facility is expanding by 130,000 square feet on the eight-acre property the company recently purchased in Sparks, NV, according to NOW, which said the construction will begin this summer. Jim Emme, NOWs chief operations officer, said this expansion will enhance the companys customer service to its western U.S. retailers and will support future growth.

NOW Foods is building environmental efficiencies into the project and hopes to attain U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver certification for energy and other conservation measures at the site.

When the new facility opens in early 2012, the company will add 10 new jobs to its existing 29-employee workforce. NOW Foods has operated a 38,500-square-foot facility in Sparks, which opened in 2003 to handle warehousing, shipping and wholesale distribution for Idaho, Utah, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
