LOUISVILLE, Ky.The better burgers trend is huge right now, presenting new expansion opportunities for chains that have been following the parameters of the trend from the beginning, long before chains like Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Smashburger made better burgers famous.

One such chain is Culvers, which has been a Wisconsin mainstay since its opening in Sauk City, Wis. back in 1984. After spreading throughout Wisconsin and into neighboring states throughout the northern section of the Midwest (Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois), it now has over 425 locations peppered throughout the country, with 30 more units planned in various locations this year.

Qsrweb.com just published an interview with co-founder Craig Culver that digs into the secrets to the chains success, and their strategies for marketing moving forward, among other topics (see Q&A: Craig Culver talks about Culvers positioning as original better burger).
