True leadership comes from curiosity, an open mind
A leader’s education never ends, and lessons can be learned from all stakeholders in a business, says Anand Swaroop, president, Cepham Inc.
Anand Swaroop, president, Cepham Inc., started his career as a bench scientist with a goal to get into academia. Instead, he found himself first in pharmaceuticals and then his current home in supplement ingredients. His scientific education taught him that life is full of discovery, and everyone has something to teach him. “Once you look at these things with an open mind,” he said, “you realize you can learn from everyone.”
This mindset has helped Swaroop in his leadership journey, and it has been essential during labor concerns the health and nutrition industry—and many other industries—has faced in the past two years. In this video with Sandy Almendarez, senior content director, Informa Markets, Swaroop speaks about leadership principles and building relationships. He covers:
The burnout people are feeling as they work from home, and how technology can address it.
How the supplement industry must consider the health of its workers as well as the health of its consumers.
How he relaxes and takes care of himself (hint: he says he’d love to talk about jazz music with anyone in the industry!)
Swaroop will be speaking more about leadership in the SupplySide East education session, “Leadership during labor disruptions,” on Wednesday, April 13, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. Learn more and register here.
