Ocean Spray Earns SQF Certification

LAKEVILLE-MIDDLEBORO Mass.Four Ocean Spray manufacturing sites attained SQF 2000 Code Level III certification from NSF International. The SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification recognizes the companys comprehensive food safety and quality management systems." According to the company, Ocean Spray is the only sweetened dried cranberry manufacturer to be awarded this distinction. The four manufacturing sites are located in Markham, Wash. Tomah, Wis., Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and Middleboro, Mass.

Manufacturers expect suppliers to demonstrate evidence of strict food safety and quality management systems. In order to attain SQF certification, suppliers complete a food-quality assessment of their product and its associated processes. They must also identify the controls needed to ensure consistent food safety and quality levels, meet buyer product specifications and satisfy domestic and international regulatory requirements.
