NEW YORKDeephaven Nutraceuticals will discontinue certain advertising claims and testimonials for its Bravina dietary supplement, following an inquiry by the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (BBB). NAD had requested substantiation for ad claims regarding the dietary supplements positioning as addressing public speaking anxiety and promoting it as The Speech Pill; online testimonials also raised concerns at NAD.

At the outset of NADs inquiry, Deephaven informed NAD it would voluntarily discontinue the claims and testimonials at issue, and review its other testimonials to ensure they are consistent with federal guidelines. Further, the company added it would modify future advertising to better convey the message that the calming and relaxing properties of the ingredients in the Bravina supplement may play a role in helping to decrease anxiety generally, separate and apart from the strategies and tools promoted on the Web site to decrease anxiety related to public speaking.
