NEW YORK—Final Smoke Inc. modified certain claims for its homeopathic products, but was found to have reliable support for other claims, following a review of marketing claims by the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program (ERSP). ERSP examined claims including the ability of the homeopathic Final Smoke Quit Spray product to reduce smoking cravings and assist in detoxification, as well as comparative claims related to other products such as gums and patches marketed to help people stop smoking.

At the outset of the inquiry, the company offered to modify or discontinue certain claims related to “immediate” relief and reduction of cravings, as well as specific comparative claims. After reviewing information regarding Lobelia inflate, the main ingredient in the Final Smoke product, ERSP determined the company had a reasonable basis for its claims about the product’s ability to reduce persistent cravings to smoke and for detoxification.
