NEW YORKThe National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (BBB) issued a mixed report after reviewing Internet advertising claims made by Herbal Groups Inc. for its Prostalex Plus dietary supplement. NAD found the company had substantiation for claims on the products ability to significantly reduce prostate inflammation and improve prostate function in areas tied to the reduction in prostate size. However, NAD recommended it modify or discontinue other claims, including Prostalex Plus ability to regain youthful prostate function, as well as consumer testimonials that were found to be without sufficient evidence.

In a statement, Herbal Groups said it would comply with the NAD recommendations, and noted it hoped to include testimonials in the future that are representative of more common results. The company also discontinued its Prostate Health Blog at the outset of the NAD inquiry, as NAD raised concerns about the blog being used to promote product specials and serving primarily as an advertising vehicle.
