Man Selling Bogus Cancer Remedies Fined $229,000
WASHINGTON--David L. Walker, who ran a Web site claiming hisalternative treatments could take the place of chemotherapy and other cancertreatments, settled with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) (www.ftc.gov),which went after Walker last March.
A district court had already issued a temporary restraining order andpreliminary injunction barring such claims, pending trial. The settlement, whichwas reached Oct. 28, ordered Walker to stop making unsubstantiated claims and topay $229,000 in consumer restitution.
