SNORenz Endorser Reaches Settlement With FTC

WASHINGTON--The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)entered a proposed consent agreement with Robert M. Currier, M.D., barring himfrom making further unsubstantiated efficacy claims regarding SNORenz, adietary supplement containing vitamins and minerals and promoted as treatingsnoring and the symptoms of sleep apnea. Currier, a doctor of osteopathicmedicine with a specialty in eye surgery and disease, allegedly made numerousfalse or unsubstantiated statements implying he conducted a study looking intoSNORenz's benefits for snoring and sleep apnea. FTC also reported that Currierfailed to disclose that the product, manufactured by Boca Raton, Fla.-based MedGen Inc. (www.medgen.com), is not intendedto treat sleep apnea, and those suffering from the possibly fatal conditionshould seek medical attention.

Under the proposed consent order, Currier must also disclose anymaterial connection between himself and the manufacturer of the product, serviceor program being endorsed.
