Chr. Hansens BB-12® in Two New European Products

HOERSHOLM, DenmarkThe probiotic strain Bifidobacterium BB-12®  (BB-12, from Chr. Hansen) is combined with fiber in two new powder stick products launched in Europe, which shows manufacturers are increasing using branded probiotics mixed with prebiotics for products designed to help maintain regular bowel movements.

 This month, the British dietary supplements producer Wren Laboratories Ltd. launched OptiBac Probiotics in the U.K., designed to be sifted over breakfast cereals or poured into a glass of water daily or twice a day

In February 2011, the product Yovis Regola hit the Italian market under the well-known brand Yovis. Like the recently released British product, Yovis Regola is a 6-g. stick combining Chr. Hansens probiotic strain BB-12 and fiber. It is marketed by the pharmaceutical company Sigma-Tau and distributed in pharmacies across Italy.
