ANAHEIM, Calif.Corn Products International introduced Erysta® 3656 co-processed, directly compressible erythritol for sugar-free confections. Using a proprietary integration technology designed to maximize the performance and versatility of polyols in formulation, the company developed an ingredient that offers all the advantages of erythritol in a directly compressible form for sugar-free confections.

According to Adriana Raches, Corn Products Internationals director of marketing and customer solutions, Erthyritol can be an attractive sugar-free sweetening alternative for applications where heat stability, ease of flow and cooling effect are important."

Erysta 3656 has ideal flow characteristics, is non reactive and non-hydroscopic, masks off-notes and can be tailored to meet a range of hardness values. Sugar-free products made with Erysta erythritol offer a an appealing cooling effect, smooth texture and pleasant mouthfeel. It contributes 0.2 kcal/g, so it is considered low glycemic and suitable for diabetic diet. In addition, it does not promote tooth decay. Erysta erythritol also has a higher digestive tolerance than typical polyols.
