FITCHBURG, Wis.Glanbia Nutritionals is launching LinPro 140, a natural, allergen-free flax protein powder for protein fortification in a wide range of applications, including bars, clusters, cereals and beverages.

LinPro 140 contains beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant lignans, and has a low glycemic index. The powder delivers a PDCAAS  value of 0.68 and 38%-40% protein content. The ingredient is also vegetarian, GMO-free and contains 32% fiber.

LinPro 140 delivers a clean flavor profile and non-gritty mouthfeel to lend a soft texture in bars throughout shelf life. The powders solubility also makes it applicable in beverages, not disrupting the smooth mouthfeel in viscous products.

The powder is heat-treated with Glanbia Nutritionals MicroSure Plus 5-log kill process, designed to provide safe flaxseed with a stable shelf life of two years.

Initially being launched in the United States only, Glanbia anticipates LinPro 140 will be available in Europe in the next 12 months.

Glanbia announced in November 2012 plans to build a cereal ingredient processing facility in Sioux Falls, S.D., to  produce MeadowPure® Quality whole and milled flaxseed ingredients, as well as other seed and grain products.
