NEW ORLEANS--Schenectady, N.Y.-based Fortitech and Ludwigshafen, Germany-based BASF Corp.'s Human Nutrition Group have partnered to sell and market human nutrition premix products to the United States, Canada and Mexico. On June 25, the two companies announced their new relationship at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) (www.ift.org) Expo held here.

According to the agreement, BASF (www.basf.com) plans to transfer its former North American human nutrition premix customers to Fortitech (www.fortitech.com), where BASF ingredients will be included in Fortitech manufactured premixes. It will also work with Fortitech in increasing sales in the human nutrition premix market within North America.

This new endeavor combines BASF's strengths in research and development, marketing and quality control with Fortitech's strengths in nutrient systems, operating flexibility and customer service. These customized premixes include ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, nucleotides, nutraceuticals and other specialty ingredients.
