Color-Tec Launches Software Tool

CLINTON, N.J.Color-Tec Associates (www.color-tec.com) launched a set of Windows software tools for food technologists. FORMULATOR Nutrient Version provides graphic tools and calculation abilities to enable users to develop new formulations and modify and improve old ones, while calculating nutrient levels at a portion level or as a percentage of formula. The software has been used in other industries, such as specialty chemicals and cosmetics.

In addition to developing formulas, FORMULATOR allows users to define quality control (QC) tests, output bench test batch tickets and archive test results during the formulation process. It also archives and documents QC tests and identifies critical control points to be monitored during scale-up production. Further information is available at a new Web site (www.formulatorus.com), and a software program on CD-ROM will be available for free testing by qualified food and feed technologists.
