Rhymes With Plastered: Beer Banned for Profane Name

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.If you're in Alabama and are thirsty for a beer with "hints of smoke and peat," you're out of luck. The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board banned the sale of Dirty Bastard beer because of profanity on its label.

Too bad for Alabamans, because the beer is "so good it's almost wrong," according to its Michigan-based makers, Founders Brewing Co. And that's not just boasting on their part; the scotch style ale won a silver medal in the Strong Ale category at the 2010 World Beer Cup.

The brewing company owners can appeal the decision, but there's no word yet on if they will.
