AHCC Seems To Lengthen Postoperative Cancer Survival
OSAKA, Japan--Recent research out of KansaiMedical University indicated supplementation with AHCC (Active HexoseCorrelated Compound), a hybridization of several species of medicinal mushrooms,improved the life expectancy of patients who underwent surgery for liver cancer(J Hepatol, 37, 1:78-86, 2002) (www.jhep-elsevier.com).Researchers conducted a prospective cohort study from 1992 to 2001, studying atotal of 269 consecutive patients with confirmed liver cancer. All of thepatients underwent surgery, after which 113 were treated with AHCC. The AHCCgroup had a significantly longer no recurrence period and an increased overallsurvival rate compared to the control group.
