Amino Up Opens Expanded Facility

SAPPORO, JapanAmino Up Chemical Co. Ltd opened a new expanded production facility that will double its production capacity of AHCC (active hexose correlated compound).

The construction of the new facilities incorporates a number of environmental enhancements as well as the use of locally sourced materials to improve overall sustainability.  The new building that houses the plant is one of only three in Sapporo to have gained the highest SSS" rating on the Comprehensive Assessment System for Environmental Building Efficiency.

Earlier this year, Maypo and Amino Up announced the Japanese tsunami did not affect its construction of the new facility.

AHCC is derived from the mycelia (roots) of hybridized Lentinula edodes shiitake mushrooms and is rich in acetylated alpha-glucans a type of carbohydrate shown to modulate the immune system.  AHCC has been studied in patients with various forms of cancer and both viral and non-viral hepatitis.  Human studies have also demonstrated the benefits for elderly people and healthy adults.
