VISTA, CA and JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.B&D Nutritional Ingredients Inc. (B&D), provider of sales and marketing of premier raw materials essential to dietary supplement, food and personal care products, announced a strategic letter of intent with Renewable Algal Energy, LLC (RAE), a provider of algal oil and algal protein, produced using its patent-pending technology.

Under the letter, B&D will promote and distribute RAEs purified algal products to enhance a new generation of functional foods and dietary supplements. The algal oil will provide a value-added alternative to vegetable and fish-sourced omega-3 products currently available. It will contain a rich and balanced blend of omega-3, -6 and -9; but additionally will contain significant levels of naturally occurring GLA, lutein, zeaxanthin and a rich mixture of carotenoids, along with natural vitamin E and tocotrienols to enhance stability. This will allow the finished product producer to have all of these valued ingredients in one source. The algal protein will be a high-quality, all-vegetable alternative to whey and soy, sourced to contain a desirable amino acid profile and processed to avoid the undesirable aspects associated with these other protein products.

This letter of intent with RAE reaffirms B&Ds commitment to provide science-based ingredients of exceptional quality to our customers," said Bill Van Dyke, CEO and chairman, B&D. Im excited about this new relationship. RAEs unique single source for multiple ingredients provides a breakthrough opportunity for finished product producers to limit their sourcing requirements, while at the same time providing their customers with a rich and balanced combination of high-value ingredients. This nutritional platform derived from a renewable source provides an opportunity that comes along only once every two or three decades."

Jeffrey Kanel, Ph.D., CEO of RAE, said, We selected B&D as they understand the market and have a superb track record of launching unique ingredients and supporting those ingredients with their customers."
