BALTIMOREThe Baltimore City Public School System (BCPS) is the first school system in the nation to implement the Meatless Monday program, a campaign of choice and moderation to reduce meat consumption one day a week to personal health and the health of the planet.

On Mondays, more than 80,000 BCPS students will enjoy an all-vegetarian menu. Students also have the chance to eat fresh, whole produce and learn about plants and animals by visiting the systems 33-acre teaching farm. Other initiatives are underway at Northern Kentucky University and Harvard.
