NEW YORK--A highly purified particulate form ofyeast beta-1,3 glucan protected mice against a lethal dose of anthrax when itwas administered orally after anthrax exposure, according to BiopolymerEngineering (www.biopolymer.com), whichsupplied its WGP Beta Glucan for the study. Researchers from Defence R&DCanada conducted the study as part of more than a decade of ongoing research onimmune modulators. Their work was published online by Medscape GeneralMedicine (www.medscape.com).
