SHANGHAICactus Botanics, an international company based in China dedicated to botanical extracts, amino acid and biochemical products, released its new power extract featuring woad (Isatis indigotica).
Woad has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) throughout central and western Asia, and is known for supporting against symptoms caused by viral infections, tumors and inflammation.
In a published study conducted by China Medical University, evidence showed it was associated with antiviral activity, and among other natural compounds such as indican, isatin, indirubin and indigotin, indirubin indicated a number of immunomodulatory and antiviral effects (Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2012;2012:925830).
"This most recent research shows that medical experts continue to seek powerful and effective immune-support natural ingredients that may be used to keep populations healthy through the immune system's ability to functional optimally," said Carol Cheow, general manager of Cactus Botanics. "The study shows that Isatis indigotica may be an attractive defense weapon for consumers seeking immune-bolstering supplements."
Last year, Cactus Botanics announced the extension of its line of myricetin to accommodate increasing demand for the flavonoid derivative of Chinese bayberry bark (Myrica cerifera) and also launched its line of standardized and customized milk thistle.
