OMAHA, Neb.ConAgra Mills and Spicetec Flavors & Seasonings hosted their 3rd Annual Child Hunger Ends Here Golf Event in July, which raised more than $120,000 to help feed 750 children throughout Nebraska and western Iowa this school year. The golf tournament benefitted Food Bank for the Heartlands BackPack Program, which provides food to kids when it may not be readily available, such as during weekends and school vacations.

The Child Hunger Ends Here initiative is part of ConAgra Foods' ongoing efforts to end child hunger in the United States. There are more than 16 million children in the U.S. impacted by food insecurity or the inability to access enough food to live active, healthy lives. Since 2010, ConAgra Mills and Spicetec Flavors & Seasonings have helped feed 1,800 children in Nebraska and western Iowa, where 1 in 5 children is at risk for hunger.

It is rewarding to partner with Food Bank for the Heartland to help feed kids who are food insecure in our community," said Bill Stoufer, president, ConAgra Mills. I am grateful for our employees who work passionately from start to finish organizing the event, and for the sponsors who make it possible."

In June, ConAgra Foods Foundation awarded nearly $500,000 through its Community Impact Grants program to support the fight to end child hunger in 10 states. Since 1993, ConAgra Foods has donated more than $50 million to nonprofit organizations aggressively pursuing sustainable solutions to end child hunger, including a 5-year, $10 million pledge from the ConAgra Foods Foundation to Feeding America. ConAgra Foods also has donated more than 290 million pounds of food to Feeding America member food banks across the country. In 2011, the company donated the equivalent of 1 million meals per month to Feeding America, the nations largest domestic hunger relief organization, which has a network of 200 member food banks.
