NEW CENTURY, Kan.--HOWARU Rhamnosus, licensedfrom NZMP, is the second strain launched in Danisco's HOWARU range of probioticingredients. It was identified as Lactobacillus rhamnosus and shows an abilityto survive at low pH and relatively high bile concentrations. Ingredient safetyhas been tested in three animal studies; additional investigations show HOWARURhamnosus does not degrade much in vitro. It supports immune function anddigestion, and has been shown in vitro to adhere to intestinal cells. HOWARURhamnosus can be used in various dairy and non-dairy product applications.
