Danisco Debuts Protein Drink

COPENHAGEN, DenmarkDanisco(www.danisco.com) introduced HI-FI, a long-life, low pH protein drink at theWorld Wide Food Expo in October. The drink is formulated with DaniscosLitesse® II polydextrose and GRINDSTED® Pectin AMD 384, and suppliesapproximately 25 percent of the recommended daily intake (RDI) of prebioticfiber, the company said.

Litesse II polydextrose is a well-tolerated, 1 Kcal/gprebiotic fiber with a sustained effect throughout the entire intestine,delivers a neutral taste profile and superior stability over a broad pH rangeand under a variety of processing and storage conditions, and is excellent forsugarfree, low glycemic and low calorie applications, the company said.

GRINDSTED Pectin AMD 384 is designed to protect proteinsagainst aggregation through steric stabilization, preventing sedimentation andseparation, while delivering 50 to 75 percent more natural fiber per serving andnot increasing viscosity in low pH protein beverages. Danisco said pectinprovides a range of documented and potential health benefits and is extremelylabel friendly.
