ANKENY, Iowa— Embria® Health Sciences announced its immune-balancing supplement EpiCor supports the formation of healthy red blood cells, supports and protects mucosal immune health, and provides anti-inflammatory support, according to a study published in the most recent issue of the peer- reviewed publication, The Open Nutrition Journal. The double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized pilot study examined EpiCor's beneficial effects on the immune systems of a group of healthy participants. The study found EpiCor to: increase hematocrit, which supports red blood cells; increase secretory IgA, which supports mucosal defense; decrease serum IgE, which supports appropriate immune response; decrease cytokine IL-10, which also supports appropriate immune response; and decrease the overall number of minor health complaints. Based on these findings, potential future studies on chronically inflamed individuals—such as patients with chronic fatigue syndrome or cardiovascular disease—would be merited.
