FiberAid for Food Applications

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn.--FiberAid, a Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved food ingredient produced from larch arabinogalactan (AG), has been found to provide functional health benefits without the problems associated with most fibers. Dr. Joanne Slavin and a team of University of Minnesota researchers found that AG might benefit gastrointestinal health and immunity, as well as significantly reduce serum cholesterol, glucose and insulin levels.

FiberAid is a water-soluble ingredient and is easy to formulate in a range of food applications. "Traditionally, many natural fibers deliver health benefits but can negatively affect application and functionality," said Jim Frick, vice president of sales and marketing for Larex Inc. (www.larex.com). "The addition of FiberAid does not change the application for food and beverage products."
