Five-Day Cosmetic Course at UCLA

LOS ANGELES--A five-day course, Skin Care & Basic Ingredients: WhatThey Are, How They Work and How They Benefit the Skin, is planned for March19 to 23, 2001. Held at the Lindbrook Center of the University of California LosAngeles, this program will focus on the basic ingredients found in cosmetics, aswell as ingredient trends. Key points include how antioxidants, AHAs, BHAs,vitamins, plant extracts and minerals affect the skin; legal definitions andlabeling requirements of cosmetics and cosmeceuticals; and ingredients thattarget skin conditions related to stress, menopause and climate. "Thiscourse gives the non-chemist enough information to feel confident whendiscussing cosmetic ingredients with researchers, developers, suppliers orconsumers," said Rebecca James Gadberry, the course's instructor.
