Healthy Origins Supplying Lyc-O-Mato to NCI Study

PITTSBURGH--Healthy Origins, a supplementmanufacturer based here, is supplying its 15 mg Lyc-O-Mato lycopene softgelsto the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Fla. Thecenter is conducting a randomized clinical trial, funded by the National CancerInstitute (NCI), to assess the effects of tomato lycopene complex and soyisoflavones on prostate health.

Researchers will give patients either Lyc-O-Mato or soyisoflavones prior to radical prostatectomy to assess the effects on prostatecancer cell growth. Secondary study objectives include evaluation of the effecton serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels, a common marker used to detectprostate cancer progression.
