Himalaya Changes President, Increases Sales

HOUSTONHimalaya USA reportedin August a flurry of news, including that it has a new president and that salesof its menopause product are doing exceedingly well. The company announced Aug.26 its co-founder, president and chief executive officer, Philip Duterme, Ph.D.,was to step down Oct. 1. Joseph Chimbel, Himalayas vice president of sales andmarketing will succeed him as president and chief operating officer. Dutermewill continue to work with the company by developing activities at The PHARInstitute, a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to increasing education andawareness of science-based herbal remedies.

In addition, Himalaya announced sales of its menopausalsupport formula, MenoCare, have increased, probably due to August 2003 studiesthat further confirmed women on pharmaceutical-grade hormone replacement therapy(HRT) are at increased risk of heart attack and death from breast cancer.

The company also reported its products are now available atWild Oats stores nationwide.
