IBR Granted Japanese Patent for Skin Whitening with Carotenoids

REHOVOT, Isreal IBR Ltd . was granted a patent by the Japanese patent office claiming IBR-Phyto(flu)ene for skin whitening. The patent application, titled Carotenoid Compositions Useful for Whitening Skin, was granted in Japan four months after it was granted in the United States. The patent is related to the use of carotenoid preparations for promoting skin whitening with the combination of phytoene and phytofluene (IBR colorless carotenoids).

 This additional patent to be issued now in Japan, joining the series of patents and applications in IBR's portfolio related to the colorless carotenoids (phytoene and phytofluene) including corresponding patent application recently allowed in the United States. It further strengthens the position of IBR's colorless carotenoids (IBR-Phyto(flu)ene®) products portfolio for topical use and oral supplementation as key proprietary ingredients for the beauty industry and IBR's position as an innovator in the field, Liki von Oppen-Bezalel, Ph.D., vice president of business development and marketing.  The expansion of IBR's patent portfolio promotes our global market growth, especially the ever-growing market for skin whitening, lightening and skin protection."
