InterHealth Receives NIH Research Grant

BENICIA, Calif.InterHealthNutraceuticals received a $100,000 research grant from the National Institutesof Health (NIH) to study the potential benefits of its Protykin ingredient foruse in preventing and treating heart attacks. Debasis Bagchi, Ph.D., vicepresident of research and development for InterHealth (www.interhealthusa.com),will serve as the primary investigator on the project, which will be conductedat the University of Connecticut, Farmington. The research is expected to becompleted by the end of 2004, with presentation and publication of the resultsdue in 2005.

InterHealth is proud to receive this grant from theprestigious NIH, Bagchi said. Our team looks forward to continuing ourexploration of the cardioprotective benefits of Protykin. Previous researchhas shown the ingredienta standardized extract of Polygonum cuspidatum with50-percent trans-resveratrolcan protect the heart from injury aftermyocardial infarction.
