Jade Beutler Receives Ramazanov Award
November 4, 2008
LAS VEGAS—The Ramazanov Award Foundation bestowed its first award on Jade D. Beutler during SupplySide West, held here Oct. 22 to 24, 2008. Beutler is the CEO of Lignan Research LLC, which specializes in research, development and manufacture of novel, lignan-based phytochemicals; he also serves as CEO of Barleans Oils. A licensed health care practitioner by trade, Beutler has applied his scientific background and discipline in the conception, research and development of scientifically validated nutritional supplements.
Leonid Ber, M.D., president of the foundation, said: “The board of directors took the choice of the first award recipient very seriously because it sets the tone and the direction of the foundation. It is symbolic that we are presenting the first Ramazanov Award during Supply Side. While there is plenty of good quality science being presented and developed on the supply side of the industry, not always does it gets translated into quality consumer products. Jade Beutler deserves to be the first Ramazanov Award recipient because he is an example of how such ‘translation’ can be done in an ethical way without sacrificing integrity and bending science for the sake of profit.”
In additional news, the foundation added Beutler and three additional industry veterans to its board of directors: Anthony Almada, MSc, Mark Blumenthal and Wendy Wang, Ph.D. They join existing board members Ber, Richard Brown, M.D.; Miguel Jimenez, Ph.D.; Steve Sikorski, Ph.D.; and Larry Switzer. The foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) currently sponsored by P.L. Thomas & Co. and Polifenoles Naturales, is also accepting tax deductible donations from companies wishing to support science excellence.
