Low-Carb Drink Helps Hansens 3Q03

CORONA, Calif.--Hansen Natural Corp. (NASDAQ:HANS) reported Nov. 13that for its third quarter (3Q03), ended Sept. 30, sales got a boost from itsnew low-carb drink.

Including discounts, allowances and promotional payments, the companyreported net sales of $33.3 million, up from 3Q02s $27.0 million. Grossmargin was 39.9 percent of sales, up from the same period last years 35.9percent. Operating expenses rose to $9.7 million from $7.5 million. Net salesalso climbed, to $2.1 million, or $.20 earned per share, from $1.3 million, or$.13 earned per share.

The company credited its higher sales to strong performances from its linesof natural sodas, Junior Juices and new introductions, such as the low-carbMonster Energy drink and Deuce drinks. The company experienced lower sales inenergy drinks, smoothies, E2O Energy Water and Energade energy sports drinks.
