COLUMBIA, Md. Martek Biosciences and the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) developed a new campaign, Beautiful Minds: Finding Your Lifelong Potential, designed to encourage Baby Boomers to get proactive about healthy brain aging. Research has shown lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise and cognitive stimulation can promote long-term brain health and fight mental degeneration associated with aging. In fact, a recent study using Marteks lifesDHA algal omega-3 found increased intake of omega-3 could improve memory function in healthy aging adults.

The Beautiful Minds campaign features a new scientific assessment developed in conjunction with NCAA, which explores lifestyle factors that may help to improve overall brain health, including memory performance, and outlines the four dimensions of brain health: The Nourished Mind; The Physically Active Mind; The Socially Connected Mind; and The Mentally Engaged Mind.

Martek has a proud, 25-year heritage in brain health science and research as well as a strong history of supporting health education and outreach, said Steve Dubin, Martek CEO. We are pleased to partner with the National Center for Creative Aging and announce Beautiful Minds: Finding Your Lifelong Potential, to help change public perceptions about brain health and aging.

Another part of the campaign includes a photo essay exhibit featuring 11 Beautiful Minds, a profile of individuals with stories of accomplishment, creativity, and reinvention in the second half of life. The exhibit is currently in New York and will be touring the United States. The profiles can also be viewed online at Beautiful-Minds.com.
