ROMEThe natural olive extract Phenolea Active Complex (of Phenofarm) displayed significant benefits in learning and memory processes , according to a recent study published in the Journal of Nutrition (Nutrition. 2013 Apr;29(4):681-7). It was also found to positively affect the proliferation and migration of endogenous progenitor cells present in the rodent brain.

Researchers from the Istituto di Biologia Cellulare e Neurobiologia, Italy, discovered Phenolea increased the levels of nerve growth factor (NGF) and  brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in crucial areas of the limbic system and olfactory bulbs, which contribute to learning and memory processes. Results also indicated olive polyphenols possess good bioavailability, and Phenolea Active Complex is an effective ingredient for supplements and functional foods.

In January, Phenofarm and Horizon Italia joined forces to debut Phenolea®Complex Plus, an antioxidant ingredient made from olives.
