Whole Foods Commits to Wind Power

AUSTIN, TexasWhole Foods Market purchased renewable energy creditsfrom wind farms to offset 100 percent of the electricity used in all of itsstores, facilities, bakeries, distribution centers, regional offices andnational headquarters in the United States and Canada. It is the largestcorporate wind energy purchase in the history of the United States.

Whole Foods selected Boulder, Colo.-based Renewable Choice Energy as itsexclusive supplier of renewable energy credits. Its purchase of more than458,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy credits will avoid more than700 million pounds of carbon dioxide pollution this year.
