SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.—Zsweet™, an erythritol-based nonnutritive sweetener from Ventana Health Inc. (www.ventanalife.com), has almost no impact on blood sugar, according to results of an independent human study from Glycemic Index Laboratories Inc. Results of the study will be revealed at scientific meetings later this year. “One of the pivotal attributes of Zsweet is its zero calorie profile,” said Tim Avila, creator of Zsweet and chief executive officer (CEO) of Ventana.“One additional step we wanted to take was to confirm it had no glycemic impact—no elevation in blood sugar. To perform a meaningful study, we used a test quantity comparable to four servings of table sugar. Indeed, the study revealed what we expected.”
