KIMSTAD, SwedenBiovelop AB launched an oat-based soluble fiber ingredient, containing 35 percent beta glucan, called PromOat. Neutral in both taste and color, PromOat allows manufacturers to introduce a wider range of oat-based beta glucans in food and beverage products not usually associated with oats. PromOat contains no insoluble oat fiber or oat protein, which can compromise the flavor and aesthetics of finished products. In addition, PromOat is gluten-free and has been trialed in fruit juices, smoothies, ready meals, condiments, dressings, processed meat and bakery products. PromOat enables products to provide or contribute to consumers daily intake of 3 g of beta glucan, therefore allowing access to health claims linking oat beta glucan to maintenance of healthy blood cholesterol levels.

PromOat also offers food and drink manufacturers other functional qualities, as it can be used as an effective fat replacer, water binder, emulsifier, stabilizer and viscosity modifier while providing products with a creamy mouthfeel.
