Chromium, Grape Seed Extract May Lower LDL

BENICIA, Calif.--Researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center found that aniacin-bound form of chromium combined with a grape seed proanthocyanidin extractsignificantly reduced elevated cholesterol levels. Three groups of patients receivedeither a placebo twice a day, 200 mcg of chromium twice a day or a combination of 200 mcgof chromium and 100 mg of grape seed extract twice a day for two months.

Hypercholesterolemic patients taking the combination reduced both total cholesterollevels and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels by 16.5 and 20 percent respectively, themost significant effects out of the three groups.
