While choline is a critical nutrient for brain and heart health, it is likely that most adults can get adequate levels via the diet, according to The Healthy Skeptic writing for the Los Angeles Times. This nutrient helps support cell membrane integrity and is found in common foods such as beef, eggs and broccoli; however, choline supplements are now widely available on the U.S. market. While some people—pregnant women and young children, for example—may benefit from choline supplements, incremental value for the general population is still unproven.
