KEARNY, N.J.Three out of four dietitians would recommend a carb-control supplement to their clients, according to a survey of 106 dietitians at the ADA Annual, Food & Nutrition Conference & EXPO this past year. Further, study analysis showed 28 percent of the dietitians believed their clients are consuming more than 76 grams of starch per meal, well above the recommendation of 45 to 60 grams of carbohydrates per meal for adults trying to control their weight or maintain health blood sugar levels.

The response highlights the challenge of getting clients to adhere to a meal plan when it comes to consuming carbohydrates," said Laura Garrett, MS, RD, CDE, who administered the survey on behalf of Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. When asked if they would recommend a product like Phase 2 Carb Controller, which has been clinically shown to reduce the digestion of dietary starches, the vast majority said yes."

Garrett continued, Consumers need carbohydrates, but often they eat too many of these comfort foods leading to weight and blood sugar issues. Consequently a supplement that helps reduce starch digestion and absorption can be a valuable tool in helping consumers adhere to their meal plans."
