DAVIS, Calif.A study published in the July 16th issue of Metabolism Clinical and Experimental indicated the use of MegaNatural BP® grape seed extract (from Polyphenolics), in conjunction with lifestyle modification, may effectively lower blood pressure in patients with metabolic syndrome.

The placebo-controlled trial administered either 150 mg/d or 300 mg/d of the grape seed extract or a placebo to 24 subjects with metabolic syndrome.

After one month of treatment, there was a significant reduction in blood pressure in both groups given MegaNatural BP. There was no change in the group given the placebo. Subjects given 300 mg of MegaNatural BP reported a significant decrease in the concentration of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in plasma.

"This new study results suggest MegaNatural BPcould be of value in a lifestyle management program directed toward people suffering from metabolic syndrome," said Dr. Anil Shrikhande, president of Polyphenolics.
