LONG BEACH, Calif.BI Nutraceuticals released steam-sterilized chia seeds for functional food formulations. The companys chia seeds use BIs proprietary Protexx HP process, which uses heated, dry steam to ensure the material is free of pathogens, while preserving the nutritional content. Chia seeds can be incorporated into a wide array of foods designed to improve individuals' cardiovascular and digestive health, as well as promote satiety. Chia seeds have the highest concentration of total omega-3 fatty acids by weight of any common foods; are a complete vegan source of protein; are high in fiber and cholesterol; are gluten-free; and offer a range of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential amino acids.

BI Nutraceauticals chia seeds can be used in various applications, including cereals, breads, soups, salad dressings and nutrition bars. Chia seeds can also be mixed with liquids to create functional drinks for athletes; the omega-3s address inflammation, and protein helps with muscle recovery. All chia seeds from BI Nutraceuticals meet all cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) standards, and are halal and kosher certified.
