MONTPELLIER, France—Tart cherries may benefit heart health and reduce belly fat, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. Researchers found tart cherries contain high levels of antioxidants that have heart health benefits and have the potential to lower cholesterol and reduce inflammation. The study also found that rats who consumed tart cherries had less fat deposits around their waist than rats who were fed a western diet.
