November 15, 2011
EDISON, N.J.Chandan Sen, professor, Ohio State University Medical Center, discussed Tocomin SupraBio® (from Carotech) and its neuroprotection effects in an iHealthTube.com interview, which is available online, separated into 13 episodes.
In the interview, Sen talked to iHealthTube about what a stroke is, how he started the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded stroke prevention research and the reason he choose Tocomin®/Tocomin SupraBio palm tocotrienol for the study. He also explained the direction of his research, which is to find a natural preventive solution for stroke protection via oral supplementation.
Stroke is the number one cause of disability and number three killer disease in the United States," said WH Leong, vice president, Carotech Inc. "Today, Prof. Chandan Sens studies proved that Tocomin SupraBio® natural full spectrum palm tocotrienol complex and minute amounts of alpha tocotrienol are potently neuroprotective. The applications are widespread ranging from aging to other neurodegenerative disorders that represent a sizeable fraction of all health problems taken together. Tocotrienol content in our diet is trace at best."
Sen is currently a professor and vice chair of research of surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center. With more than 250 publications under his name, Sen is cited more than 900 times a year in study literature. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal Antioxidants & Redox Signaling.
A 2011study Sen conducted found oral supplementation with Carotech's tocotrienols reduced overall brain tissue damage, prevented loss of neural connections and helped sustain blood flow in the brains of dogs that had strokes.
