COLUMBIA, Md.—Martek Biosciences (NASDAQ:MATK) has signed a 15-year license and supply agreement with WhiteWave Foods to provide docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Under terms of the deal, WhiteWave (www.whitewave.com) will develop soy beverages incorporating Martek’s life’sDHA™. There are no minimum purchase requirements, but WhiteWave agreed to purchase all of its DHA omega-3 needs from Martek for these products in the United States and other designated territories. WhiteWave expects to launch the DHA soy beverages in 2007 and will feature the life’sDHA logo on product labels.

“I believe that Martek’s agreement with WhiteWave is another step forward towards the widespread use of Martek’s life’sDHA in a variety of food and beverage products,” said Steve Dubin, chief executive officer (CEO) of Martek (www.martek.com). “We look forward to working with WhiteWave, a leader in corporate citizenship that is known for manufacturing innovative, authentic and nutritious branded food products through socially and environmentally responsible practices.”
