THE WOODLANDS, TexasZMC-USA commissioned several toxicology studies, performed by the Institute of Environmental Toxicology in Ibaraki, Japan, to affirm the safety of ZMCs coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) at high doses. Testing confirmed the oral LD50 is greater than 2,000 mg/kg; there was no oral toxicity in rats receiving 1,000 mg/ kg/d for four weeks; the ingredient was not mutagenic in a bacterial reverse mutation test; there was no induction of structural or numerical chromosome aberration in vitro; it did not induce micronuclei in bone marrow cells of mice; had no skin sensitizing potential in the guinea pig maximization test; and had no toxic effects on immuno-toxicological parameters tested at 1,000 mg/kg/d for four weeks. Detailed information on the studies is available from ZMC.
