Botanical ingredients intended to be used in supplements and functional foods enter a brand owner's facility in various forms, therefore no single test is the "best" to prove identity. In this INSIDER interview Michael McGuffin, president, the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), notes tests that may be best depending on the form of the botanical from live plant, to whole form and powder, but he says qualified personnel are the best tool to have.
