AHPA Released Second Edition of Botanical Safety Handbook

Silver Spring, Md.The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) recently announced the second edition of its "Botanical Safety Handbook," and has made it available for presale orders in the SupplySide Store in hardcover and digital versions. The book will officially be released early March, but AHPA is now offering a 25-percent discount on presale orders for a limited time only.

The new edition of "American Herbal Products Association's Botanical Safety Handbook" features the latest evidence-based research and clinical data on nearly 600 species of herbs and other herbal products. The book also highlights the process of safety obtained through clinical trials, pharmacological and toxicological studies, medical case reports, and historical texts.

More enhancements include:

A classification system of each individual herb, including a safety rating and a drug interaction rating
More references listed for each herb
In-depth information on events reported in clinical trials and case reports
Safety-related pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of each herb
The use of herbs by pregnant or lactating women
Toxicological studies and data on toxic compounds
